A Perfect Wedding at The Packshed in Margate on the KZN South Coast
A perfect wedding at the Packshed in Margate on the KZN South Coast.
This wedding was very special to me. I have known Marius for many, many years. I was very happy when he asked if I could photograph his wedding.
Their pre-wedding couple session was just amazing. If you missed it, here is the link.Marius and Angie | A Couple Photo Shoot in Margate.
I arrived at Marius in the morning to find him riding with the boys. It was great fun watching these guys having fun, from wheeling to donuts – they had a blast.
Marius was a little on edge. I guess the nerves were starting to kick in. But he looked great and was ready to marry the girl of his dreams.
When I arrived at Angie, makeup was complete. (which she did on by herself – amazing). The brides maid were still having hair and makeup done. Angie looked gorgeous and her dress was beautiful.
The groom and bride preparation was complete and I was off to the Packshed. The Packshed is a amazing venue at the back of Margate on a farm called Sweetdale. I have been to the farm a number of times and the food at the restaurant is amazing. When Maruis and Angie told me they were getting married at this venue, I was very excited as their’s was the first wedding I would be photographing there.
An amazing ceremony, officiated by the super talented Barbie Meyer. I love the way Barbie got all who attended the ceremony involved in the proceedings. It was very special to witness and fun as well.
Although overcast, it was still quite humid, which is normal for this time of year on the coast. In fact, December is the rainy season, so we were thankful that it did not rain, but I think we can be thankful that it was overcast as well. Using studio type lights on location gives me the opportunity to work in any lighting conditions. And if it is overcast, great, I can use that to my advantage. This was no different and I was able to do a number of lighting setups, from using the soft natural light, to more dramatic lighting.
The reception was beautifully decorated by Machedeline Bester. I loved that the setting that was outside of the main restaurant, which gave the venue a natural feel. The speeches were short and to the point. Of course the guys packed around Marius and tried to continuously interrupt him. But I think he did a good job. (Marius =1 – Boys = 0).
I have to mention that the food served at the Packshed was amazing. Mini hamburgers were served with potato and sweet potato chips. WOW. They might be called mini but not really, each person got three – fish, chicken and beef. I want to say more but have no words – AMAZING. Well done to Connie and Daniel who had to work under pressure to get the food out before load shedding.
Angie being a dancer, the first dance was just amazing. Marius told me he had spent hours practicing. Marius, you nailed it. You were both amazing.
I try and look for something that I think can make an interesting photo at a venue. I think the last pic, I will call LOVE LIGHT!
Thank you Marius and Angie for allowing me to be part of your amazing day. You are both very special people. May God bless you both with many happy years together.
